um, I think I have become a believer in CO detectors ;)
 Hopefully the problem with the furnace is as simple as soot buildup
blocking the air intake. I rent, but the landlady is elderly and probably
won't take this well. The gas company guys don't have an agenda in this
though, so I believe them, and they showed me the soot and the vent. It's
something that *will* have to be addressed, either way.
