The sky is not falling, the sky is not falling. Everything that I've
read so far on this stuff has been very chicken little-ish. Change is a
scary thing and this is a big change so people are panicking.

As for the Republicans or Democrats, I don't really listen to what
either of them have to say because they are saying what they are
supposed to say. Even if Daschle supported pulling out, or Lott was
opposed to pulling out, I really doubt that either would publicly state
that. They would probably tow the party line because the repercussions
are too great.

One interesting aside, Daschle recognized that the President has the
authority to unilaterally withdraw from this treaty without
congressional approval and he is currently looking into "some way" for
Congress to stop it. There have been many discussions here about
constitutional authority and how many feel that Ashcroft and the Bush
administration overstep those lines. I doubt that I would hear a single
honest criticism of Daschle and/or Biden if they "found a way" to stop
this. I'll make a prediction, Daschle will run to the courts to get
them to block it.

Moreover, given the Republican alternative to Daschle, I prefer his
civility. The degree of obnoxiousness that the Republican leadership
has
demonstrated since Gingrich has struck new lows in bipartisanship.
