I didn't say anything was wrong with it... I just said they didn't have to
make sense.

Regional labels are often incongruous.  But once they're broadly accepted it
doesn't matter - they're just as useful as any other name.

It doesn't matter that the "North End" of Boston is actually south of "East
Boston" - everybody knows what you mean (well... everybody in Boston).  ;^)
