As is my habit after I wrote this (and after a see a film) I got to see what
other critics think. For this film they're spilt right down the middle -
many hated it many loved it.

But one stuck out at me... I hate it when a critic lets obvious bias into
their judgment.

Bob Strauss of the Daily News says this:

"The film's writer, Neil Gaiman, and director, Dave McKean, are big names in
the graphic novel (i.e., comic books with pretensions) world. "Sandman" was
Gaiman's biggest hit; McKean drew the covers."

What the hell does "comic books with pretensions" mean? Is that not a valid
art form? Is that worth your attention, Bob? You can discount something
simply because it's only a pretentious façade on a soulless form of
expression?

Or am I reading too much into this? ;^)
