I have been wanting to do the same thing. I was thinking of upgrading to a
powerbook 17" but does it really hold a candle to say a Dell XPS laptop ...
And something I have been contemplating about the powerbook. If I did by a
powerbook, am I just buying an obsolete machine with the new INTEL Macs just
on the horizon?? If I am going to spend 2500-3000k on a laptop, I would bet
I can get more miles out of the Dell. My suggestion.. If you are going to
buy a mac. Grab a Mini to get your feet wet. By then, once your somfortable
with em, the picture should be clearer where Apple is going with Intel...

On another note, I would be the first on my block to buy Mac OSX for the PC
in a heartbeat if Apple decided to licence it as a standalone OS (Read: cold
day in hell)
