What's WTOP?

As to your question, I dunno, that's a tough one. From my perspective
it's education, but few are interested in that.

Many media outlets have staked their livelihoods on a divisive
message: FoxNews, Rush, Sean Hannity, etc. (I would name liberal
shows but I've never listened to them so I can't say)

The product these media outlets provide is:

1.) Blame problems on scapegoats (it's not your fault, it them).
2.) Provide talking points that take the place of independent thought.
3.) Indulge negative personality predilections (hate, distrust, etc.)

Anybody that aspires to be an independent thinker laughs at these
shows because they insult their intelligence.

Unfortunately there are people that fall victim to blaming ghosts and
after a time the blame becomes part of their personality. Their
self-worth becomes tied to this allegiance.

This is a human weakness left over from caveman days: align with a
group and fight to the death. Independent thought is a modern
evolution, but it won't survive if people like Rush Limbaugh have
anything to say about it.
