Hey guys,
So I've got some dilemmas - some really good ones.
I've been in my current position for the past 11 months. Things
have been ok, I've been a little bored, but one thing that was happening
often was my manager was making some very bad personal decisions that
affected my group. I got disgusted with the decisions and decided to look
for a new job. That was two weeks ago. The response to my resume has been
incredible - it might as well be 1999 for me (btw, you REALLY need to learn
..NET if you don't know it).
So last week, said manager pushes me a little too far - I go
ballistic and report all of these decisions to another manager, end up in
the HR office, and yada yada yada the manager was fired on Monday.
So now I'm in a position where the manager is gone, but I don't
think that the rest of my group has much respect for me doing so. Also,
I've got people DYING to have an interview with me.
I got one offer, Wednesday, from a nice mid-sized company, 6mo
contract-to-perm, $45/hr. It increased to $50/hr today. They are doing
some really cool stuff with .NET, the team is really nice. It feels a lot
like being a Microsoft when I was there.
I had an interview-dinner last night with a guy from Bosche. I
got a call today that I need to go to HR tomorrow at the local plant. The
offer is not officially extended, but it will be tomorrow. I think the pay
will be marginally more or the same as what I make now, but it feels like I
would have a lot of upwards or sideways mobility, which is very important to
me as I also have an MBA and would like to be more than a programmer in the
future.
I just got back from a place that wants to hire me in the worst
way but won't know what to offer me until Wednesday.
Anyway, I'm overwhelmed with stuff on my plate. What do you
guys look for in a job? Long term goals? Short term money? Highly-advanced
technical stuff?
Let me know.
- Matt
