I just needed to see one Quicktime movie.

To download it I have to give me email address. Three separate mailing
lists are pre-checked at this point.

But, joy, I've got to download all of iTunes and all of Quicktime! It's a
mere 32 meg installer. There's no way anymore (at least that I could see)
to install just the Quicktime browser plug-in.

Then I tell it NOT to create desktop shortcuts or take over extensions or
anything else - but it still creates multiple quick launch shortcuts and
adds several start-up registry keys.

Without asking in installs a QuickTime launcher to the system tray.

Then, when it's all done, it closes my browser (and all the other open
windows I had).

I've now got three new folders in Program Files: "iPod" (I don't own an
iPod), "iTunes" (I don't like iTunes) and "QuickTime". All these folders
together run just shy of 100 meg.

I look and, lo and behold while there was no option to only install
Quicktime there's separate options to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime.
(although the start menu folder for Quicktime features an "uninstall"
shortcut the iTunes folder does not.)

Just to play one freakin;' little video online.

Sorry guys - I know, each to his own. But I just wanted to vent.

Jim Davis
