But I WANT MORE. :)
Some of my faves (mostly older stuff and perhaps a little cliched... but so be it): "Dominion, Tank Police" Fun and sexy and every once in a while, deep. "Neon Genesis Evangelion" Not everyone's cup of tea and the ending will either cement it as the best thing ever or the biggest waste of time you've ever endured... but I loved it. "Princess Nine" Not all anime has to be about giant robots. ;^) If you're a fan of Baseball (or, like me, hate sports but, for some reason love sports stories) then this is not to be missed. "Bubblegum Crisis" Perhaps not as deep as other offerings, but very well-done nonetheless. "Robotech" Sure, it's a throwback to after-school schlock... but rewatching it as an adult exposes a lot of depth hidden behind giant robot fights. "Serial Experiments Lain" This is a hard sell. I couldn't sit and watch it the first coupla tries, but then got into the right frame of mind and watched (and loved) the whole series in a sitting. Of course there are also movies! Anything by Hayao Miyazaki. Anything. Look for the surprisingly excellent American releases by Disney. If you want a serious drama (and don't mind some tears) "Grave of the Fireflies" is one of the most moving films I've seen. The style is somewhat vanguard for anime but "Metropolis" is stunning and has some of the best audio-work ever set to film. Of course you're not a "fan" until you've seen Otomo's "Akira". And his latest film, "Steamboy", is visually breathtaking (if a little weak in the plot department). One of the first movies I saw was "The Venus Wars". I've still got a soft spot for it. As an aside if you're interested in Anime NetFlix has a great selection. Even the cheapest account will let you burn through most series and movie pretty quickly and it'll end costing you much less than traditional rentals.
