I think it was a lot more than that....at least in the beginning. The word "Skinhead" has morphed into such a fuzzy, catch-all sort of phrase these days though.
I mean, is a skinhead just anyone who ritually shaves their hair short? Or does a skinhead have to adhere to some set of core skinhead type philosophies? If so, which? Some skinhead organizations are racist...many aren't. Many skinhead groups are political...some aren't. I like to try to stick fairly close to the "original" ideals of the subculture.....straight laced, hard working, disciplined people who distrust the ruling class. To me, it's a glorious rejection of the frills and fashions of the social "elite", in favor of a simplified, highly dignified approach to living a good life.
