AFAIK, InterNIC only cover .aero, .arpa, .biz, .com, .coop, .edu, .info, ..int, .museum, .net, and .org and even then, the .com and .net details are from Verisign. Any country code based TLD data such as .uk or .us to name but two is held by the relevant group.. For instance .uk is managed by Nominet in the UK.
Also again, AFAIK the Whois search only allows domains, registrars and nameservers to be used as search criteria, not *Registrant* details. Certainly, the .uk management allows you to add but withhold from public view all address details of the registrant, only showing technical and billing details where necessary to protect against attempted domain transfer scams like the DRoA where the registrants have been contacted by a third party (DRoA) to "renew" their domain or "lose it" when in actual fact, they (DRoA) are not the registrar in the first place. UK Trading standards has had the DRoA over their marketing practices many times...
