I prefer more unbiased sources who sampling methodology is legit, such as the US Census
http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty/poverty.html The chances are their data is a lot less skewed to support a particular ideological point than the Heritage Foundation or the WSJ. Moreover these groups do not necessarily show how they got their numbers. Most often they pull in the data from the Census, apply their own definitions then write a report that supports that institution's ideology. If you look at the real data rather than relying on reports containing ideological filters, its obvious that there has been a significant upward trend since 2000. Taken since 1996, the trending is even more apparent. When the 2005 numbers are out, I am sure this trend will be even more pronounced. Moreover the Census makes it very clear how it got the numbers what transforms (if any) were applied to them, and most importantly goes into great detail on how they measured poverty both at non-technical (http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty/whypov.html) and technical levels (http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/povmeas/povmeas.html). larry On 11/4/05, Gruss Gott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Larry wrote: > > Where do you get this idea that the poverty level has not changed > > since 1996.
