Speaking as a Canadian....

I very much think there is a difference... although for some people,
there probably isn't. Just because of short sightedness.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Bush government (although I do
find myself being entertained by all the hoopla) but I don't have a
negative oppinion of the american people. Probably because I view
myself as a human first, Canadian somewhere afterwards... so I really
don't see it like "us and them".. Politics frustrate me at times, I'm
sure quite a few of my neighbours in the US feel the same way (just as
some of my canadian neighbours do).

>From my point of view, people are always caught behind "the political
game"... I mean, Bush and his "dudes" are and have been interested in
one thing. Having the power of the presidency. At least, that's my
opinion.

It's all a game. When things are going bad (often enough for Mr Bush)
they always try to shift the public's focus to something else and make
people forget the issue of the moment. (And Bush isn't to only master
at that, it's a popular technique in the political game)

It's no different in Canada... we had "the Gomery" report come out,
about governement corruption (spending money in unacceptable ways..
imagine that).. and instantly after the first report I hear an
opposing party call for an immediate election... My opinion is that
the system should be such that the parties attempt to keep each other
accountable on issues (which they try to do), WHILE WORKING TOGETHER
FOR THE BENEIFT OF THE NATION (which they do little). Instead the
political game takes over. My opinion is that after the election, the
parties have been voted in the position where they have been voted and
it IS their responsibility to run the government as such 'till the end
of the term. Not play the political game.... spending more tax payers
money in the process.

I don't believe this is skepticism, but I wouldn't really trust
political parties any farther than I can throw them... not to say they
are bad intending people or even bad people. I say this just for the
simple fact that they (the parties in general) all play the "political
game" first, run the country's business second.

People elect in the hopes that the elected party will deliver on the
promises and run the country in a way that is favorable... I find
"political interest" usually over takes the campaign promises.

Ah well, crap.... that's my rant. :-)

I was very intested in the last US election... I thought Kerry had a
real shot. After the election results came in, I was like "what were
some of you guys thinking"...

I guess Bush is the man. After all, he won the election.

Best wishes,

Yves
