Took the boy... and the boy's friend... and the wife. It wasn't bad. But then again, it wasn't great either. It was clever in spots (imbuing the anthropomorphic characters with their animal attributes was very clever in several spots for example).
There were, as you'd expect, plenty of "adult" references to keep grown-ups happy (the gimmick still works... but damn it's getting old) and lots of slap-stick for the kids (even a few burping jokes). The voice acting was excellent all around (with a small role for Patrick Wharburton, and how can that NOT be nice?) But in the end it just felt somehow empty. Lacking. Trite. Definitely worth a rental, even to buy... but tickets for four and snacks ran us over $50. And it just didn't seem worth that to me.
