Oh, there are so, so many reasons lately. This morning I saw an interview with Bill Frist. He was asked what he's doing about the deficit. His response? "We're making cuts! We're ... we've cut $35 billion from the latest spending bill." Now let's cite Independent Mantra ... all together, now ... "WHAT ISN'T HE TELLING US?" What Mr. Frist declines to mention is that the $35 billion cut simply drops the *increase* in spending, yes increase, from 7.1% to 7%. Remember this trick from Democrats? The tell you they're making cuts when actually they're just minimally slowing growth? Well now the Republicans are at it. So here's my advice to Independents nee fiscal conservatives: forget the rhetoric, forget the personalities, forget the scandals. If an "R" is President, vote "D" for Congress.
