I mostly agree with you Larry... Unfortunately, I see many votes goin against someone, instead of for someone.
Who you dislike the least will likely get votes. Personally, I really don't know who I'm supporting... Here (on PEI) we had a vote on electoral reform last night which was voted down.. The vote was for proportional representation, which isn't a bad idea... but I asked myself this morning, if it went through, given how the political leaders usually get along.... would there be anything gained or just different people to argue with..... and get little done. 2 cents....
