We first got DSL in 97, and then cable in 98. Cable had better DL speeds, about 1Mb at the time, however the reliability was crap. DSL was slower (512k) but it was always up.
Cable has improved reliability, and DSL has improved speed. One thing I've always liked about DSL is the ability to pick my ISP. The phone company provides the line, but the actual internet connection comes from a third party. Here there is one cable company, and they provide the only internet service for their cable modems. If I could use the same ISP I have with DSL, but get it over cable, I would save nearly $1000 a year. > -----Original Message----- > From: Larry C.
