Okay, since the topic came up, I decided it was finally time to post my crazy neighbor story. I have these crazy neighbors, see. Well, I did, anyway. Up until about a year ago, I was sure only 2 people lived there - mom (elderly) and daughter (developmentally disabled). Eventually another neighbor told me that there was another daughter, and sure enough, there is. My husband and I joked about how one day we'd just smell a bad smell, and it'd be mom decomposing in there. Little did we know....
About a month ago, one of the daughters needs help because mom has fallen and she can't get up. So, I go over there. (Note: this is the first time they've spoken to me in the 8 years I've lived next to them.) The stench damn near bowls me over. But, I breathe shallow and find mom on living room floor in front of a lazyboy type chair. I ask if she's okay and the answer is that she is. Long story short, I manage to get her up to the chair, and then over to a kitchen chair, noticing in the process that she's got a big nasty open wound on her foot. She tells me it's because she sits in a puddle all day - she's 90 and can't hold her water. Sure enough. I'm standing in a rancid piss puddle. Shuddering, I return home and decontaminate. 2 weeks ago, they're back. Mom's in a chair and needs to go to bed. She can't get up. Aaron and another neighbor go over together. There's one light on in the house. They use flashlights to see in the bedroom. They lift mom onto the 12 inches of available space on the queen size bed. Thanksgiving - 2 ambulances show up, with paramedics in full infectious gear after a short sojourn into the house without it, and take mom away. Black Friday - I drop off muffins and inquire as to mom's health - she's in intensive care and it doesn't look good. Tuesday - 2 cars of social workers and an unmarked car or two of cops show up and take away the daughters. Thursday - paper delivery stops. So, do you think they'll ever be back? Or do I officially live next to a toxic infectious human waste dump? (BTW, I did try to call social services after that first encouter, but they hadn't done anything with my information because they were waiting so as to not make it obvious it was me that called. Uh huh.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:185539 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
