The memorial is unique in that it's still "alive", so to speak, with the oil 
that continues to leak to this day from the wreckage and is visible on the 
surface.

I was a punk 13 or 14 year old when my parents took me there...but staring 
at the oil forming from that 50+ year old wreckage with the bodies still 
inside....it mesmerized me. One of those moments that you first start to 
appreciate the gravity of the "world", ya know?
