Yeah, those pageants creep me right the hell on out... dressing up a six
year old to look like a little sex bomb, and then parading her out in front
of adults to judge her on how "hot" she is.... yeeesh.

Theres something inherently wrong here.

Be the good uncle it's all you can do, tell her how pretty she is and how
you love her just the way she is. It sounds like some of this is self esteem
issues.

I've got two 15 year old twin nieces with esteem issues, and I just tell
them that I love them no matter what and just like they are.

im with you scott. its her mother and the mental thing.
i really think it is. the pageant thing was a one time
thing, that was a whim, not jon benet, not even close.
however, she is VERY beautiful (if i must say so myself)
and is mixed (mother is white, obv. but the father is
black... well, part black, part white, and part american
indian... and he is NOWHERE, in jail maybe, REALLY
a PROBLEM child.) not to mention she complains
of not liking being BROWN :( its sooo hard... shit i
wish i had her skin color.

her mother spent YEARS fighting overweight, was/is
the only overweight child in a family of four of us (she is the
only girl) we abused the shit outta her... we are all paying
for that now...

anyway, back to what Jim said... yes, my mother is the
most amazing woman, but she is the grand coddler.
sneaking ice cream here and there, and some milkshakes
but im telling you guys, no food. ovaltine is it. nothing
hard. nothing. she is VERY co-dependent with "Gran"
and is REALLY scared of this move out with the new man
in my sisters life (who REALLY is a level headed good guy)
that I AM VERY HAPPY with, but i dont think alison is.

jeeez... this is tough. soo much i want to do, and have
tried to get them to do for 3 or so years now, but me and my
brothers are absolutely helpless in this. its my sister
and she is the most obstinate person in the world.

and G-man, i know they are not idiots, its just my frustration.
settle down jerky :) jk.

ok, thanks for the advice/help/pointers, ill keep you updated.
