Why? One reason is because the US invaded Iraq that's why! If they had not done so then there would be credible cause to attack Iran, even unilaterally. Now no one has any wiggle room since another attack or pressure on another Arab country in the region is unthinkable.
Several countries also make silly claims. China made them with Taiwan, North Korea made them about the US, and Iran's leader says some things that may have been taken out of context about Israel. *shrug* So what? He's certainly not the first person to say that if the UN and the rest of the world so loved Israel, why didn't they found the country within their own borders somewhere. The only pertinent issues are the Nukes and the intentions of Iran once they are a nuclear power. But I mean really!! If a superpower you consider to be a definite threat to you invades your neighbouring country why the hell would you NOT seek to acquire nuclear capability to assure your survival if the option were open to you? What they are doing makes perfect sense if one views it in the context of assuring the survival of Iran. Who knows what's going to happen next, however one thing that is clear is the situation was exaccerbated by the attack on Iraq.
