My son (age 7) and I watched the 1933 version on TV a few nights ago and then last night we went to see Peter Jackson's remake.
It really was so very worth it. Jackson extended the storyline tremendously, especially the relationship between Kong and Ann. Healso added in several subtle, but completely wonderful homages to the 1933 version (including some cleverly redone scenes). This version is vastly more sympathetic to Kong and less sympathetic to Carl Denim but I think it worked wonderfully. My only real problem was that although the theater was almost completely empty (a 5pm show a on a Wednesday) there were two families making HUGE amounts of noise. One wasn't talking but rather passing around huge bags of Lays chips. I could sort of forgive this... but the other had a teenager that commented loudly and often on nearly every scene. I nearly got into a fight since halfway through the film I asked him to "please shut the hell up". His father shouted back "You watch your mouth!" but they were all quite for the rest of the movie. ;^) At the end his father got and started coming over to me. I stood up and looked at him and he turned back. It's actually nice to know that in my mid-thirties I can still intimidate people when I want to. ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:189358 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
