Our cattle out here are free range cattle that are best used for leather and
dog food. <G>
There are a few dairies around. Most of the meat we get around here is
flavorless and tough (standard Sirloin). Costco seems to get in the
freshest meats due to the larger volume they deal in and they are very
tender and well marbled.

Your Christmas dinner sounds like it was great! I'm going to have to do up
a Prime Rib myself... Mmmmm lots of horseradish!

Subject: Good beef was: So What Did You Get For <holiday>?

I'd have thought that you would be close enough to cattle country to get
good beef. Actually, I've never heard of anywhere in the US that you
couldn't get good beef. Is it really that bad in Phoenix? Or is it much
better than what I'm used to here? I did cook a really fine Prime Rib for
Christmas that was out of this world. I bought a brand of meat called
"Hereford" from the Harris Teeter grocery store. It was more expensive
(about $1 extra per pound) but I think it made a big difference.
