When I was a poor blue-collar worker I knew many Democrats, as I moved
to white collar or I saw a change. I still see the difference in the
poorer people I just don't spend as much time with them.
To give you an idea of the incomes in NY:

median | per capita | poverty | total pop
New York City
Manahattan 47,030 | 42,922 | 20% | 1,562,723
Brooklyn 32,135 | 16,775 | 25.1% | 2,475,290
Queens 42,439 | 19,222 | 14.6% | 2,237,216
Bronx 27,611 | 13,959 | 30.7% | 1,365,536
Staten Island 55,039 | 23,905 | 10% | 463,314

The surrounding subburbs
Nassau 72,030 | 32,151 | 5.2% | 1,339,641
Westchester 63,582 | 36,726 | 8.8% | 942,444
Rockland 67,971 | 28,082 | 9.5% | 293,626

So yes there are plenty of rich people but there's many more that are poor
