I wrote a sociology paper on them in college.

The John Birch Society was formed in the early 1950's. They were named
after an OSS agent who was supposedly shot by the Chinese Communists
during the . Ironically enough John Birtch was working with the
Maoists and was actually executed by the Nationalists.

They're extremely right wing, with links to the Weches (the grape
juice people) and the Coors (ie., Coors Beer). They are anti-Semetic
and from what I remember went for the whole Zog (zionist occupied
government) that the neo-nazi movement follows. Everything that isn't
to the right of McCarthy is considered to be at best to be a
sympathizer.

I had thought they died a miserable death at least 10 years ago. It
seems that they're being revived recently.
