DUuuude!! Go for the Dell Inspiron E1705 with Dual Core Processor!!
Don't buy a THING that doesn't have that new Dual Core Processor in it! If you are buying now, buy at the bleedin' edge. Those Dual Core laptop processors are screaming fast and they will set you up nicely to take advantage of the coming software and Vista OS. My problem with the E1705 is that you cannot choose to put a 7800GTX Go mobile graphics processor in it. I think I would like a beefy graphics card in whatever laptop I purchase, and the 7800 GTX Go is the best, faster than most desktops...faster than the 6800 Ultra sitting in your Desktop (for example ;-) ) Also, grab 2GB of RAM upfront., and get as big a screen as you can.
