All dogs are different, so you have to figure out what works with your pup. Does she respond to authority? A loud shout? A smack on the butt?
My dog doesn't like to be yelled at. So.....as a puppy, all whining was immediately met with some stern yelling, and a threat of a whoopin. She doesn't whine. Ditto on the barking. The retribution needs to be immediate. When you hear the first bark, go outside and whap her. There's no mistaking what the smacking is for. If she barks again, do it again......she'll get the message eventually. And your neighbors will thank you for it :) (oh, smack her with a newspaper though, instead of your hand.
