In my community, Wal~Mart has made a huge impact. I live in a University town... population of about 225,000 people, with between 25,000 - 50,000 of them being University of Saskatchewan students or staff. (depending on the time of year) That leaves a huge need for part time, decent paying work. We have two stores here, and both employ hundreds of individuals that were not being employed before. In addition, they donate a very significant amount of money locally to the Children's Miracle Network and other local charities.
Now... does this speak to the company as a whole? No. Does it speak to Wal~Mart in other communities? No. But Wal~Mart has been a positive force in -my- community. >There are no rules, and I would have to say that personal experiences that >directly pertained to the topic at hand wouldn't be off topic.
