As a male, old, single, non father, here is my take. I would back my kid from any injustice. I would also let them fight any fight they felt worthwhile. But I would let them know that they are making a choice, some others are not going to like that choice, and there may be repercussions.
This is an important lesson in the "real world". The stands you take may have consequences. You need to learn to pick your battles. You need to learn that "the man" often wins. you need to learn that you may cause friendly casualties (her sisters being singled out as an example, or my sister being forbidden to do things cause I ruined it for her). But you don't need to go down quietly. If you want to fight, by all means have at it. You just have to live with your choices.
