For the last few weeks, my daughter, who works/ed at Dairy Queen in Boonville, IN, had been getting fewer and fewer hours. The last week she worked, it was a total of 3 hours. We told her to find out the reason why. She was too afraid to make anyone mad. So, when she called today to ask about her upcoming hours, she found she was not put on the schedule. My wife was furious, so she called and talked to the owner. He basically said she was no on the schedule. (Mind you, this is the owner, who is also an adult male.) My wife asked why and he said it was because my daughter had a nose piercing and that DQ had a non-tolerance policy for facial piercings. Well, since it is his business, fine for him. (asshole). But, my wife siad, "So, you just cut her hours and didn't say anything?" He told my wife that we all make mistakes and he apologized. However, he did not say she was fired. He did say she would not be put on the schedule, so, technically, she was still an unpaid employee that was not allowed to work. (The dumbass didn't even realize she had not worked there long enough to draw unemployment, so he could have just fired her.) So, my wife told him that since she has 13 salons she manages, that she knows how to manage a store and he, obviously, did not. She also told him it was very unprofessional to keep dragging her along when she could have been looking for a different job. What a dumbass. Now, I have never walked away from any service company because the employees had a facial piercing. My only guess is that DQ is where the really old folks go to get ice cream in this area, so he's probably just catering to the narrow-minded retirees. I know that I, and my large family, will not patronize that DQ anymore. M!ke
