We're of the exact same mind here.  An analogy to Sam's point would be:

"Castro *AND* his generals review privacy rights and they're all ok
with current practice."

My point is yours: if the executive branch wants to infringe on a
citizen's rights they should need the review and consent of another
branch of government.  In this case the judicial.  Further congress
should step in to pass the legislation necessary to make this law.

It's shocking and scary that, after all the US has been though, a US
citizen would favor single brach rights violations.
