Well, Sarajevo Yugoslovia is probably the closest we've had. It was
part of the Ottoman empire as recently as 100 years before the
Olympics, and it had a very large Muslim population.

I think at this point, Muslims may be a majority in the city, but I
don't think they were at the time of the olympics (I seem to remember
a pretty even Croat/Serb/Bosniak split at the time, much ballyhooed at
the time as a model of integration)
