Yeah, no text here either. Flash 7 player. Aesthetically I like the new design much better. Technically I think it's silly to use Flash for something like this. The inconsistency of reactions you're seeing here is just and example.
Think of the audience. Are they targetting only highly tech savvy customers that care enough about computers to keep them updated to the latest system and browser and plugins or are they going to be running some old thing they got from freecycle that's running Win98 on a modem line? The same design could be accomplished with basic graphics and tables and be useable by more people.
