My hard drive on the temporary replacement laptop that my company gave me went south. So in order to still use it for something I downloaded the Ubuntu Live CD. This thing is amazing. I booted it up and it recognized every single piece of hardware, including the wireless card and usb hard drive.
I really wish that you could use linux as a real alternative. Unfortunately, there seems to be so many non-linux programs out there. DW, my VPN, video editing, iTunes, etc. don't seem to be supported. It really is refreshing though to be able to boot an entire operating system off of a single CD and it just works! Oh, and I didn't have to input any freakishly long serial number in order to use it :) -- "aeteti yeah, do you seeyea, ooohohohn neh I don wanta seh, yeh nah, I don wanna seh", Pearl Jam, "Yellow Ledbetter" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:196818 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
