According to his own statement the harrassment was a two-way street.

Was he targeted? possibly. but to say ferrets _should_ be legal
because pet stores carry ferret food is sort of a backwards way to
approach the issue, no?

Yes, there has, and I am sorry that his ferret was put down, given his
telling of the story it seems it was done wrongfully.

But the ferret had been quarantined for "biting a cameraman," they put
dogs down for biting, too.

the issue he chose to run on. My contention stands, there are serious
problems in California, while heartfelt, I don't think his platform
was one of statewide import.

To put it another way, how does legalized ferret farming help the following:

Health and Human Services understaffing.
Classroom overcrowding.
flagrant violations of immigration laws
