I am confused because you seem to be suggesting that what we're saying
in using FMJ as an example is 'blow everything up' as that's the
*Hollywood way.*

The lines were quoted to illustrate a point--do something about it,
and my continuance of the reference was a suggestion (based in terms
of the same movie) as to _why_ we might *not* be doing something about
it.

It was not a suggestion (at least not on my part) that the answer lay
in some Hollywood-style solution. Rather that while it would seem that
the answer is obvious--Private Joker *should* be stomping the guts out
of Private Pyle for his transgression--he isn't because Pyle has a
loaded weapon.

It would seem we are stuck in the same situation with regards to
Muslims and their fundamentalist brethren.

In our case, the "loaded weapon" is the threat of continued terrorism
and the spread of extremism.

In the case of the moderate Muslim the "loaded weapon" is the threat
of expulsion, censure or even death at the hands of those not wishing
to irritate those with the itchy trigger finger.

I suppose we could fish up some references in Kierkegaard, James,
Plato or Hegel, but what would be the point if the point can be made
with a more easily accessible reference.
