I stopped looking at my feet after my fourth broken toe and fractured
instep. Unless I break an ankle, my ortho just tells me to tape em together.

I split the distal shaft of my second metatarsal on a road march a while
back. That shit sucked.

I do check my feet daily, was trying to be attentive, but this one fooled
me.

My foot DID hurt. I knew that it was hurt, but thought it was just the
aggravated sprain. It never occurred to me (although it will now) that it
could actually be broken. Or that I was making it worse by the activity
(until the last 2 days, when the swelling didn't go down).

(It was the middle three long metatarsals, where the bone widens to form the
joint with the toes.)

Of course, in hind site, I can see why my blood sugar levels started going
screwy at about the same time.
