Sounds to me like you did OK overall. New windows and doors are a major bonus. That's thousands of dollars worth of materials and labor. It sucks about the cabling, but that sounds like more a of PITA than any real problem. Just time and effort to remove.
If the garage floor really bothers you, you might want to consider laying down an epoxy surface before you put your stuff in there. It takes 2-3 days by the time you clean the existing surface, acid-etch it, and lay down the epoxy, but it makes a beautiful and very durable floor. Materials should cost you maybe $200 depending on the size of the garage. Congrats on being a home owner! >We closed on our first house Friday morning.
