And some scientists are blinded by faith and fail to see the faults in what they believe. Scientists are people: they can be silly, petty, inspired, stupid and brilliant - often all within the space of 30 seconds. This is exactly why science is a community effort - peer reviewed, falsifiable and debated. The "smart person" may very well believe that Satan planted dinosaur bones 6000 years ago. But they are generally also willing to admit that it's not science (again, simply because it's not falsifiable). Since it's not science it shouldn't inform science education.
