They also have more money than the KKK ever had... and probably rather
literally more money than God (if you consider God's money to be what
all the churches have). Some combination of that and the fact that
they have this "super-secret" boys club make them some of the most
powerul people in the world, although it's impossible to really know
what they're using that power for. I have heard someone say that their
husband was a member and her defending their acts which she claimed
included threatening their members with destroying them professionally
and financially in addition to burning their house down if they leaked
any of the org's secrets. The argument was that the secrets were
trivial (i.e. "my dog is neutered! Shhhhh! It's a secret!") and so
keeping them shouldn't be an issue, so it didn't really matter what
they threatened their members with because they'd never make good on
the threat anyway. Of course, I didn't buy that line of BS. I don't
claim to know whether her husband was really a member (or if they
really do make those threats), but she seemed to be serious when she
made the claim. Another friend of mine said she wound up in posession
of a Mason ring accidentally and then later received an encoded letter
which she was told by a coworker of hers was an invitation to join if
she could decrypt it. Which seemed odd to me -- I didn't think they
generally included women, although I haven't really studied them, so
what do I know. :)
