GG, buddy, pal ole friend of mine, you are wrong this time.

The police and military forces are the primary reaction forces in most of
Iraq right now.  Depending on how this next election series comes out and
who ends up as PM and who as president we could be closer to bringing a lot
of our men and women home than you think.

I've seen them and they looked good to me.  If it makes you feel better,
only 9% of the Marines wanted troops out within a year.

This does pass the sniff test though - the reasons for being in Iraq are
confusing at best (which makes the mission confusing) and the level of
progress seems to have been stagnant for years.

Yes, yes, there were elections, schools built, blah, blah, blah, but the
real question is: are the Iraqis closer today to controlling their country
(without the US) than yesterday?  The obvious answer is, they're no better
and they may be worse.
