I'm talking to recruiters about jobs in DC.

I was actually thinking about a company that I contacted directly
because I'm personally interested in the company (not because I saw
them post a job description), where the hiring manager told me not
only that they don't hire people without degrees (with one exception),
but that he didn't think my min. DC salary of $80k would be reasonable
and that he'd be hard pressed to get me $70k for a full-time job. I
can't live on less than $80k in DC! I've checked the market and done
the math, and asside from the fact that I can't pay bills there for
any less, $80k makes me a bargain in that market!

Admittedly, it doesn't help that I still have 2+ hrs drive to get
there and at the moment have no money for relocation. I didn't have
any money for relocation when I came to Charlottesville, I got an
advance, and then had to take a pay cut to work here, so you can
imagine how much I've saved up to help me move from here to DC. But if
they discount me for not having a degree, their not paying relocation
becomes moot.
