I don't have a degree, and make significantly more than $80K right now. BTW I lived her eon $60K with two kids and a wife and two car payments. It's not as expensive as some people are making it out to be. I mean, you live in the burbs and ride a train, it isn't that bad. I just went to contract on a house here for 482,600. It's in Columbia MD, So it'll be a commute, compared to the rental we live in in Alexandria.

The salaries are much > better than that, the killer is the housing costs though. I'm talking to recruiters about jobs in DC. I was actually thinking about a company that I contacted directly because I'm personally interested in the company (not because I saw them post a job description), where the hiring manager told me not only that they don't hire people without degrees (with one exception), but that he didn't think my min. DC salary of $80k would be reasonable and that he'd be hard pressed to get me $70k for a full-time job. I can't live on less than $80k in DC! I've checked the market and done the math, and asside from the fact that I can't pay bills there for any less, $80k makes me a bargain in that market! Admittedly, it doesn't help that I still have 2+ hrs drive to get there and at the moment have no money for relocation. I didn't have any money for relocation when I came to Charlottesville, I got an advance, and then had to take a pay cut to work here, so you can imagine how much I've saved up to help me move from here to DC. But if they discount me for not having a degree, their not paying relocation becomes moot. s. isaac dealey 434.293.6201 new epoch : isn't it time for a change? add features without fixtures with the onTap open source framework http://www.fusiontap.com http://coldfusion.sys-con.com/author/4806Dealey.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:201141 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
