I can only answer you about the one here, which is also the local county hospital. It's the only level 3 shock-trauma in the state, and it's absolutely the place you want to be if you have a gunshot wound or a head injury. In general the care is fairly cutting edge, since it's a teaching hospital. There is good and bad that goes with that, as you can find yourself talking to a brand new resident, which is bad for someone like me with a poorly-understood diagnosis. On the other hand a for-profit hospital probably would not have had the wherewithal to diagnose it in the first place.
Univeristy Hospital really sucks if you have something like a broken hand that definitely does require care -- and probably care by them since they are the local trauma experts -- but is definitely not lifethreatening. This triages you back with all the people who have the flu and noplace else to go. To be fair to UNMH, on the aforementioned visit the triage nurse thought I had bronchitis. I have been educamating them on clotting disorders ;) >Is this only at for-profit hospitals, or at ones that receive federal >and state funding also? > >Of course to me when somebody says the University Hospital I usually >assume that is one of the better ones to go to. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:201588 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
