I think these questions make it sound like there is little gray area.

At least question 2 assumes that science is able to disprove something that
has a basis in something that is out of the realm of science.

As somebody that is not religious, but does believe there was something that
started it all, and believes that something was instilled in humanity that
sets us apart from the rest of the animals I will say this.

I believe the bible as a book is a collection of stories that did occur at
some level or another, and the people in those stories believed that what
was occurring was divine intervention. And that no manner of science will
ever be able to prove or disprove any of it.

I also accept that the stories are very relative to the rather small
understanding of the size of the world that the people possessed in that
time.

I also believe that various translations may have been interpreted by people
with some sort of agenda.
