You make a good point here however Jobs has been slowly transforming the company into a multi-media consumer software company. He would argue that the "niche levels" you're referring to is the total PC market and Apple isn't trying to play there. (Although they do, but at niche levels :-) For example, Apple's blade servers are aimed at the graphics and multi-media companies.) The big stand they're making is in multi-media merchandising software and, right now, they're about the biggest thing going. I don't know what their marketshare there is, but I bet it's over 70%. And THAT business is over 50% of their revenue and growing. So if their stock price is surprising you, it's because you're judging them as PC company which they ceased to be about 3 years ago. If you look at their revenue, it's pretty clear that Apple could care-less about the number of PCs sold. Their multi-media merchandising software runs on all PCs and it's the main source of their $$$. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:202945 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
