Oh no, some people in the academic/scientific community engage in groupthink and petty back-biting? The world is ending!
Funny, I seem to remember liberals and conservatives on the othe sides of this issue of funding when it came to the arts. Liberals were all in favor of giving funding to anyone who wanted it, but conservatives wanted to limit funding to "socially acceptable" art. In both cases, I disagree with the position that funding should be limited to people who agree with a certain point of view.
