Its interesting to read this energy ballance thing. The fact is that all forms of energy require some energy to obtain.
Think about it. Youve got to build and maintain a windmill to get wind energy from the wind. You've got to run a farm and tractors to get ethanol from crops. You've got to build an oil platform then haul the oil half way around the world to get your gasoline. The trick is that your making energy there anyway from a large resource. Just make extra energy knowing that you'll use it to get that energy to the consumer. It just gets built into the price of the fuel. Dont get me wrong. We need to be as efficient as possible to obtain our energy but the real problems arise when you get additional costs that arent energy. Oil has the political cost. Oil Shale requires 3 barrels of water per barrel of oil made which is a problem where water is scarce. Windmills require well, big windmills that dont do squat when theres no wind. So, the ratio is important but there are a whole lot of other factors as well. -- DRE www.webmachineinc.com www.theanticool.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:204726 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
