They work for some items (like my coffee table) but are complete failures
for others (like my entertainment stand).

If the item has legs, it seems, then great.  If it sits on a board edge
(like most of my heaviest items) then not so great.

I think one problem may also be that the pad in the living room seems "extra
cushy" - furniture just sinks right in.

It's annoying because it doesn't always sink at the same rate however.  My
desk and lateral file are designed to make a large workspace but the desk
sinks down a good 1/4 inch deeper than the file.

I'm working through it tho'... just gotta find the "perfect" shim.
