Well, I could say this: "Ha ha! I was waiting for someone to try to
justify 'statistics' - you've made my week!"  But I won't.  That would
be a useless post :-)

Instead I'll say that, even we both agreed that Consumer Reports had
unimpeachably accurate analysis, who gives a feck?  As I've said,
people routinely don't buy cars because they're reliable, they buy
them for emotional reasons.

Hybrids are a perfect example.  Are you really making a dent in
whatever your environmental concerns are with them?  Probably not. 
Are you really saving money over other methods?  No.  But it makes you
feel like you are, so you buy it.  Emotionally, it makes you feel
good.

Take VW's new commercials that "pimp your auto" by demolishing the
"ricers" - "yah, VeeDub in the house"  That's emotional!
